Orquestra interativa. Projeto em que diferentes “Huds” ao serem tocados produzem música. A abertura do projeto se deu como um grande happening que mistura realidade e virtualidade. O evento foi transmitido on line para uma Galeria de Londres e vice versa.

SÃO PAULO - A fundação MacArthur anunciou uma doação de  US$ 550 mil para financiar pesquisas no Second Life.

 

De acordo com o anúncio, os recursos da fundação serão usados para pesquisar formas de atrair pessoas do mundo virtual para ações de caridade.

 

Segundo a fundação, o Second Life pode ser um instrumento poderoso para arrecadar recursos para campanhas humanitárias, difundir projetos educacionais e sensibilizar empresas e pessoas para a importância de ações filantrópicas.

 

Os recursos serão repassados para um grupo da Universidade da Carolina do Sul. A universidade escolhida para realizar a pesquisa já possui experiência em programas de caridade no SL.

 

Segundo a MacArthur, a escola já desenvolveu iniciativas bem-sucedidas ao arrecadar recursos no mundo 3D para pesquisas sobre novas drogas para o tratamento do câncer.

Brian Eno no SL

 

Brian Eno’s 77 Million Paintings is a generative visual artwork,composed of many overlaid images forming a “slow-changing lightpainting.” You can see a lesser demo version on the official site. On/>June 29th, 77 Mil will open in Second Life and real lifesimultaneously, to be seen via streaming video and in-world through arecreated version of the work by Angrybeth Shortbread.

Eno was moved by a desire to get his visual installation work out of the gallery, where few can see it, to a larger audience. (As someonewho’s studied his work, I would suspect that his thought process went
something like: Hmm…people have great big gorgeous HD monitors and TVs now…maybe I should dust off the old screensaver idea…)

The Long Now Foundation, a San Francisco non profit dedicated to fostering long-term responsibility, is pleased to announce the Second Life premiere of Brian Eno’s 77 Million Paintings, in partnership with metaverse services company blueair.tv.

The work will be both streamed via video at select locations inside Second Life, while a rendition of 77 Million Paintings has been created by blueair.tv creative partner Annabeth Robinson, known
virtually as AngryBeth Shortbread. Two evenings, June 29th and 30th, are open to the general public at multiple venues across Second Life, with the largest public area provided by Joi Ito (Kula Sims). The final night, July 1st, is a private event that will be held in appreciation for Long Now members
worldwide (members.longnow.org) and hosted on the Leeds College of Art and Design’s Digital Media Sim. Members of The Long Now Foundation staff and board will also be visiting the Second Life sims throughout the weekend and during the member event on Sunday evening.

The North American premiere will be hosted by The Long Now Foundation at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco. Mr. Eno hopes to be in San Francisco for the event.

China Tracy (AKA RL: Cao Fei), born in Guangdong, China in 1978, is the
youngest but the most versatile in the group. Working with video,
photography, performance, experimental theatre, documentary and
fictional films, writing and other media, she vividly express the
intense experiences of a young generation of Chinese urban youth
navigating the wave of modernisation, urbanisation and globalisation.
With an incredibly fresh but vigilant sense of humour, she examines and
makes visible the very realities and dreams of this generation in
various contexts from work to play, from suffering to happiness. Today,
she garners a great deal of admiration from the international
professionals in the art world. She has been presented in Venice
Biennale 2003, 2nd Guangzhou Triennial and Sydney Biennale 2006.

Thousands of youngsters are deeply addicted to the virtual world created
on the internet. The immensely popular online game “Second Life” (
HYPERLINK "http://www.secondlife.com" www.secondlife.com) provides them
with a “3-D virtual world entirely built and owned by its residents”. It
offers “a truly collaborative, immersive and open-ended entertainment
experience, where together people create and inhabit a virtual world of
their own design.” In this new world, all people are the nation’s
“inhabitants”, there are no “countries” or “regions”, but only a digital
world generated by imagination and creativity. Naming her avatar China
Tracy, Cao Fei is building up an on-line project for the Chinese
Pavilion to carry out an adventure into this virtual world that is
exerting crucial influence on our perception of the real and thus
considerably modifying our social relationships. Creating a China Tracy
Pavilion on the Second Life, Cao Fei will construct a platform for
dialogue and exchange open to everyone. Venturing into this imminent
future, this project will definitely bring the Chinese Pavilion itself
to a much more global perspective.

Com uma festa exclusiva só para avatares cadastrados, com camisetas, bones de patrocinadores e condução grátis (teletransporte) mais um produto é lançado no Second Life.

Mundo fashion põe avatares do Second Life na passarela

Depois da abertura oficial ontem no final do dia, com um desfile infantil, começa hoje o Fashion Rio com a temporada primavera-verão 2007/2008. Até sexta-feira 38 desfiles serão apresentados principalmente em tendas montadas no bairro do Flamengo. A antecipação dos lançamentos para a próxima temporada se deve à realização dos jogos Panamericanos na capital fluminense.

Mas o lugar mais cobiçado para desfiles está na tela do computador de cada um. A febre do Second Life chega à moda verde-e-amarela. Os meninos da Reserva mostram seu verão 2008 em avatares do Second Life - e também na Marina da Glória. O São Paulo Fashion Week, que começa dia 13 no pavilhão da Bienal, também prepara um desfile especial de abertura, em parceria com o Senac, neste ambiente virtual onde 'vivem' mais de 4 bilhões de pessoas. De olho nos consumidores virtuais, que podem até ter o corpo de Gisele Bündchen em sua 'second life', a marca carioca Bum Bum acaba de abrir uma 'lojinha' por lá para vender seus biquínis em lindens (moeda virtual).

Globo faz festa virtual para lançar novela

A próxima novela das sete da Globo, "Sete Pecados", no ar a partir do dia 18, será lançada com uma festa virtual no Second Life Brasil, mistura de game com site de relacionamentos que começa a virar mania nas grandes empresas do país. O Second Life já tem 5 milhões de usuários no mundo, 200 mil deles no Brasil, onde a média de idade é de 33 anos.
Toda pessoa cadastrada no Second Life Brasil poderá tentar entrar na festa, que deverá durar um dia inteiro, mas terá lotação limitada. No site, o usuário cria um avatar, um personagem, com corpo. O avatar faz tudo o que uma pessoa faz, atendendo aos seus comandos.
O elenco da novela estará na festa, que terá DJs e clipes de cenas da trama. Provavelmente, os atores usarão os nomes de seus personagens. Assim, será possível ao internauta tentar uma conversa com o taxista Dante (Reynaldo Gianecchini).
A festa ocorrerá em um grande estúdio de vidro, que também servirá de ambiente para uma entrevista coletiva de Walcyr Carrasco (autor da novela) e Jorge Fernando (diretor). A festa e a coletiva serão apenas as primeiras atividades da Globo no Second Life. Ao longo de "Sete Pecados", a emissora planeja, por exemplo, colocar o táxi de Gianecchini para circular no site.

AVATARES

A disputa entre Globo e Record já chegou ao Second Life Brasil. A Record se orgulha de ser a primeira rede brasileira a ocupar espaço no site sensação do momento. Desde ontem, exibe outdoors (com a frase "A Caminho da Liderança") na Copacabana virtual.
